These cards were issued in special packs and made available exclusively to those who served in the first phase of the Gulf War a.k.a., Operation Desert Shield. What sets these cards apart from their base set counterparts is the Desert Shield gold stamps. A variety of forgeries exist so it’s strongly encouraged to buy graded/authenticated examples by reputable grading companies. Given the numerous high-risk situations these cards have been put through over the years, high grade examples command serious attention.
